Innovative Floating Outfield Targets at Stonebridge

An incredible, creative installation from our customer Ian @ Midlands Golf.

We love seeing the unique ways our clients utilise our modular system, and this latest project from Stonebridge Driving Range is a perfect example of a custom floating golf green installation.

They have cleverly adapted our heavy-duty Modular Pontoons to create five floating golf targets right in the middle of their lake. The cubes have been covered with special rubber matting to reduce ball bounce and noise, and are partially filled at the corners to create a slight slope towards the bays. This clever tilt naturally discourages ducks and geese from making themselves at home (keeping the targets free from droppings!), while allowing the golf balls to roll off rather than piling up on top. Plus, it makes it much more fun for the divers tasked with retrieving them from the lake bed! It’s an innovative setup that adds a fantastic new dynamic to their outfield.

Our modular pontoons are a brilliant choice for a floating target application like this. Constructed from high-density polyethylene, they are incredibly buoyant, completely rot-proof, and designed to withstand constant exposure to the elements and UV rays without fading. Because the system is entirely modular, the team at Stonebridge can easily reconfigure, expand, or reposition the targets whenever they want to mix up the range layout—all with zero maintenance required.
