Heavy-Duty Floating Work Platforms for Commercial Marine Repairs

It’s always great to see our modular pontoons put to work in demanding commercial marine environments. Recently, the expert team at Marine Welding Services (MWS) came to us for a 3m x 5m pontoon setup to carry out hull repairs and maintenance on the iconic Uber Boat by Thames Clippers fleet.

The project needed to come together quickly, so we worked closely with Andreea to supply the kit on a tight turnaround. Safe waterline access in tidal waters can be tricky, but our Modular Pontoons provided a stable, adaptable floating work platform directly alongside the vessel’s hull.

Grey dock fenders were fitted along the pontoon edge to protect the boat’s paintwork during welding and repairs. The slip-resistant textured surface and high buoyancy gave the engineers a steady, safe working area right at the waterline. Being made from HDPE, the cubes easily handle impact, saltwater, and marine chemicals without degrading.

The lightweight system allows for rapid assembly and can be quickly rearranged from a wide 3m x 5m repair bay into a long walkway pontoon. For MWS, this provides a versatile asset that can be easily adapted and reused across future marine contracts, rather than hiring or fabricating single-use access platforms each time.
